Express your self
Creating art is a great way to express what's inside you and to come to terms with the world around you. Some therapists use their clients' artwork as a window into their unconscious minds. As they heal, their art often becomes more harmonious and positive. You can explore yourself in the same way. You don't have to be trained as an artist to use art for self-exploration. It's the process that matters, not the product. In fact, many great artists say that they lose all interest in a project once it's completed. It's the act of creation that makes their lives worthwhile. Please contact me to find out more about using art to heal and enrich your life.
Open your vision
One of the great benefits of artwork is that it sharpens your powers of observation. When you try to match the color of the sky with your paint or your pencils, it can be quite demanding of your concentration. Once you've done it, you'll never see the sky the same way again. You become aware of the color, the shape, the texture of the world around you. This not only enhances your experience of life, it gives you more material to bring to the world of meditation and imagination. Perhaps you'd rather draw what's inside you. Abstract and metaphorical paintings give you the opportunity to explore your moods, your feelings, even your beliefs.
Take it further
For those who want more training in observing and expressing, there are art classes everywhere. Art museums and galleries, science museums and botanical gardens all offer courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and more. Classes are often only a few sessions and reasonably priced. Most students are not professional artists or full-time art students, so the atmosphere is relaxed and non-threatening.
