The chronicles of you
When we commit our thoughts to paper, they take on a solidity that they just don't seem to have when they're floating around in our heads. Once you've written down an idea, a belief or a feeling, it almost demands to be taken seriously. After a few weeks of journal writing, you'll begin to see patterns in your thoughts, feelings or behaviors. You'll also see changes as your process of self discovery impels you bring more meaning into your life. The best thing to put in your journal is whatever you're actually ready to write down.
Welcome to the dream world
Dreams are windows to our unconscious. Some dreams reflect our concerns of the moment while others reflect internal conflicts that have occupied us since childhood, or before. Most people don't remember their dreams very well after they've been awake for a few minutes. It's best to keep your journal by the bed and write them down as soon as you wake up. Some people like to write down all their dreams. Others just include the ones that seem special - more meaningful, more emotional or perhaps more mysterious and puzzling.
Record your revelations
If you meditate regularly, you will likely have bursts of insight that have greater clarity than your usual conscious thoughts. Whether you see them as views into your unconscious or as messages from your higher consciousness, they are immensely valuable in understanding your self, your reality and the relationship between them. Revelations and epiphanies don't come every day to most people, so don't forget to write them down when they do happen.
